Audra's Iris Garden and Two Block Delight
My next project is a lap quilt for my daughter-in-law's birthday next month. I only have about a week and a half to finish, and I chose a pattern that appears to be fairly simple (fingers crossed). Audra's Iris Garden by Moda has some of the prettiest fabrics I've seen in awhile, and I purchased a fat quarter bundle as soon as I saw it.
McCall's has a great treasure trove of free downloads, and Two Block Delight was one that visually appealed to me. The finished size is 57-1/8˝ x 65-3/4˝, but I will probably add extra border to make the length a bit longer.
The two blocks are a "snowball" block and one called "simplicity". Since I am using fat quarters instead of yardage, I decided to use a variety of the prints in place of the four prints required for the pattern.
After cutting out the pieces, I used my display board to come up with the best distribution of color and am now ready to begin piecing. I decided to use the bigger iris prints for the snowball blocks and the more solid colors for the simplicity blocks.
As usual, Katy has to be in on the action. She is just about to bat at the overhead light.
Progress reports to follow!

Girl, you are a quilting machine! I love the colors you've chosen, and think a lap quilt is such a wonderfully cozy idea. I'll be looking forward to seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteLOL Pattie - I think it's more like quilting fool. ;)
